Scholarships

D.A.D. offers two scholarship programs, as listed below.

Academic Scholarship

One cannot underscore the importance of higher education in today's growing world. However, to achieve this goal, many students across the nation face one common problem, i.e. paying a high price for their chosen area of study. There are ways to pay for tuition through a scholarship or a loan based on interest, but D.A.D. was developed to serve as an alternative. Each year D.A.D. awards scholarships to Muslim students based on applications submitted by them in consideration for the award. The number of scholarships awarded per year varies, depending on the amount of funds raised for that year. Scholarship awards will generally be $1000, but may increase over time as our organization grows.

All applicants must be university students. Preference will be given to students enrolled in an advanced degree program, but undergraduate students are still encouraged to apply. For additional eligibility requirements, please see the application form.

All applications must be post-marked by August 7th, 2010. Winners will be announced in September. Scholarship awards for this year will be $1000 for each winner.

International Internship Stipends

D.A.D. also provides stipends to students who wish to pursue careers globally, and especially in Muslim countries. After successful completion of the first year of operation (2009), D.A.D. will begin awarding stipends to students who have successfully attained and completed an internship at one of the following:

  1. an international organization.
  2. a governmental or public organization in a majority-Muslim country.
  3. To be eligible for this stipend, the student must not receive any financial benefits from their internship.

The goal of the program is to give Muslim students in America an opportunity to attain internships at international inter-governmental, governmental, or non-governmental policy based organizations or organizations based in majority-Muslim countries. Often these internships do not pay money for work or travel, and our program will help defray the cost and encourage students to travel, work, and build sustaining relationships in majority-Muslim countries so that they may give back where help is needed the most.

All applications must be post-marked by July 15th, 2011. Winners will be announced October 3rd, 2011.
